Cardio made fun!?!? Is that even possible? I mean, I feel like those two words don’t even belong in the same sentence!! Ok…I apologize, I know there might be some of you who love it and that is absolutely wonderful, more power to you!! That’s just not me. Not anymore. Now, rewind about 15ish years and yes, I, ummm. How should I put this? I used to. Oh gosh, I can’t believe I’m saying this. Please don’t judge me….but I ran track in High School! I ran long distance. Unbelievable right? The 1600 meter (1 mile) was my most common event. My best time was 5:45. I was pretty proud of that. Still am. My current mile time probably sits somewhere between 10:00-15:00. But that is TOTALLY fine with me. I don’t see myself running a mile anytime soon. My hubby and I have been working on a new type of “FUNNER” (OH ya know… I accidentally said the word FUNNER in my YouTube video, but didn’t feel like re-recording because one redneck word accidentally slipped in there.) Anyways, we’ve been incorporating a new type of cardio that has been SO.MUCH.FUN! We do it at the end of our workout each day and switch it up so it’s always different. You’ll see in the video below what our “MINI WOD” was at the end of our shoulder workout a couple days ago. What I really REALLY love about it, is that it usually only takes about 10 minutes. Our heart rates are elevated the entire time, we’re drenched in sweat, huffing and puffing and we are working our muscles WHILE getting a crazy good high intensity cardio session in. I say this to my husband almost every day but “it just feels so effective!” Seriously!
We usually pick 2 or 3 exercises we want to do, and do a little circuit. We’ll either set our timer and do each exercise as many reps as possible until the time runs out, or we’ll pick a set number of sets and reps and do those reps then switch to the other exercise and do those reps and so on. I sure hope that makes sense because it sounds all kinds of confusing as I write this!! :/ If you’re a little confused, don’t worry! I think the video below will help make it more understandable AND I will be uploading more videos to share ideas of what we’ve been doing.
Some of the exercises we like to do for our MINI WOD’s include:
Burpees
Jump squats
Push ups
Front plate raises
Walking dumbbell lunges
Barbell step ups
Sit ups
Lunges
There’s more, but I’ll save them for another blog post. 😉
Bottom line is that if you hate cardio as much as I do, I highly recommend trying this SHORT as heck, but SWEET as can be, MINI WOD. It is sure to get your heart rate up, and help you shed that stubborn body fluff that doesn’t seem to be budging. (I promise, I can feel a difference already just since we started doing these MINI WOD’s a couple weeks ago) Sometimes it only takes us 5 minutes, sometimes it takes 15 minutes. We just push ourselves and try our best and end up having some pretty amazing cardio sessions that are way FUNNER 😉 than stepping foot on that gosh blasted treadmill!! I hope you’ll give it a try and if you do, please let me know what you think!! You can use the Contact Us tab, or contact me through Facebook or Instagram. I can’t wait to hear your feedback! And feel free to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you get notified on my latest videos, I plan on posting lots more! Thanks for swinging by! I appreciate you! 🙂
